OUR HISTORY

A little gratitude goes a long way.  Ulysses J. Abadie III was truly grateful to GOD for the mercy and grace he was shown by GOD when he was delivered from the bondage of selling and using drugs. His incarceration in 2004 was GOD’s way of putting Ulysses on pause so HE could get his attention.  There Ulysses encountered the person he now calls his mentor who was holding Bible studies. These studies awakened Ulysses’ desire and hunger to know his CREATOR and SAVIOR for himself. He began studying the WORD of GOD fervently, He too began holding Bible studies while incarcerated.

Ulysses’ newly found reverence of his LORD led him to boldly minister to others when  working on construction sites. Bringing the WORD to those who were in his company only fortified his zeal. Upon the request of one of his aunts he began during Bible study with her and her daughters.  He never shied away from any opportunities to give his life changing testimony and new found personal relationship with God.

The devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 led Ulysses to relocate to Lafayette, LA.  There, he met Deloris Riley while attending a Bible study. Upon hearing Ulysses’ story and recognizing what she identified as an anointing on him, she encourage him to share his story. She knew that Ulysses’ testimony could help so many others.

After Ulysses gave his first testimony, one request after another followed asking him to give his testimony at their church.  This led to Ulysses giving his testimony in different churches in Lafayette, Atlanta, Houston, and as far away as California.

As others heard his story and identified GOD’s glory, Ulysses was asked to start a Bible study and out reach ministry.  The name Digging for Treasures (DFT) was chosen.  The DFT Bible study began in his small apartment on January 11, 2006 which was his birthday.  Approximately a year and and nine months later God directed Ulysses to inaugurate a New Orleans group on October 26, 2007.

RUNNING FOR JESUS became his mantra as he split his time commuting back and forth between Lafayette and New Orleans to shepherd his DFT family.
